Dress Code

Warning: The blog that you are about to read tackles the subject of Religion. If you are not ready to accept what the author might say, then stop scrolling down.
A while ago, i was busy browsing my favorite broadsheet, The Philippine Star, as i came across an article entitled "CBCP backs Mass dress code". And it so happens that just a few days ago, i heard a commentary on the radio about that same issue.
Why am i writing this blog? Well, i just want to share my own views regarding the said matter and there is no way better than posting it here.
Approximately centuries ago, wearing a proper attire when going to the House of God is definitely a must. I mean, women wear long dresses or sometimes even gowns and cover their heads with laced veils. As for the men, they come in their best suits or collared polos and pants. And that was it! As simple yet formal and presentable as they can be.
But at this time, not anymore.
Teens would go to the church wearing their most "maporma" outfit which they think would make them look good and "in" to their age group.
Girls would come and even sit inside the church wearing sleeveless blouses, spaghetti strapped tops, tubes, plunging necklines and shorter than short skirts or even skimpy pants. They wouldn't care if the other people would stare at them. They don't even bother covering their exposed "flesh" just for the sake of being noticed by other boys. Goodness!
On the other hand, the boys are a bit tamer than the girls for the mere fact that they go to the church clad in their good-looking polos and jeans and oftentimes semi-formal outfits. But the downside of that is 90% of them go to the church to make "pa-cute" to the female species and the other 10%, they somehow pretend to divide their attention between listening to the word of God and making good impressions to the girls. Duh!
I'm a Catholic but I am not that much into the devout aspect thing. I am writing this blog because i know it is about time that people of my age would understand the right way of respecting their religion's teachings rather than forcefully pretending to abide by it.
At this point in time, admit it, we are more focused on "praising" the new technologies and modern age living and somehow setting aside the teachings of our respective religions.
You don't need to be a devout Catholic nor a die-hard [put religion name here] follower, all you have to do is to accept, abide, believe and live within the mores of your religion notwithstanding the tests of time.
So there goes a part of my mind. It's up to you as to how this blog created an impact to your personal beliefs.
For comments, suggestions, violent reactions, feel free to leave a comment on this page.
But i won't apologize for the words i've said.
I'm just thinking, observing and giving my opinion.
P.S. At the start of this blog, the author asked you to stop reading this if you are not ready with what she might say... but hell, you continued reading it up to this part. You have just proved how curious you are.
